[Comments] (1) Ye ask, What eat our merry Band/En Route to lovely MARYLAND?: Amtrak food: bad. Same logistics and preparation, but worse taste than airplane food. If you eat in the dining car it's got better presentation with tablecloths and real plates, but don't be fooled.

I dunno about that. My only amtrak food experience is on the coast starlight, and there it was a choice between hot dogs in vinyl bags during the trip hours (basically vending machine food) and the dining car meals. The dining car meals weren't exactly what I'd hope to eat on Valencia or anything, but they weren't airplane-food-bad.

Of course, we packed onigiri for lunch on the way down.
