I grew up near Amnicon Falls State Park in Amnicon, WI -- there was a sandstone quarry in what became the park that provided a lot of the sandstone for buildings in Duluth, Superior, and other cities in the midwest (including Chicago). The camp, railroad, etc. are long gone, but the quarry itself is still there, flooded, just down the river from the covered bridge in the park. I don't really know why I'm telling you this.
