News You Can Bruise for 2009 February 16 (entry 1)

(1) Mon Feb 16 2009 17:13 Wandernonlust: Every few months I go for a long walk around the neighborhood looking for cool new things. There wasn't much new, but I did notice some bizarre things:

• Why would you call a pizza restaurant in New York "Boston Pizza"? New York is known for its pizza, Boston isn't.
• Lingerie/woman's pajamas store selling a teddy with the Miller Light logo on the front.
• Two GameStop stores on two adjacent blocks.

as implied by the song, there is a definite new england pizza style, and though i'm sure that many prefer new york style over it, new york is big enough that if you serve a niche successfully, no matter how small the niche is, you'll do ok. e.g. my friend meredith worked in a bar in new york that catered to previous residents of washington DC.
