I just found out about a knitter's circle that meets every Saturday afternoon here in Lawrence. Horray!! I might actually finish that sweater I started for little infant Samuel after all. Too bad HE won't be wearing it. Any announcements out there that might benefit from a small sweater due to be finished sometime NEXT winter? :) At my pace, I'll be lucky to finish it by 2005.

Aly Congrats on Samuels sleep! Hope he does as well tonight.
Last year I threw out the fronts of a sweater I had started for Mark when he was 2. My problem was that I has made one of those sweaters with the cute little puppies on the front and instead of them being nice and flat they were both three dimentional (a good look in some instances but not the look I was going for :( ) any way They are now history. I think a club where someone could help you who knew what they were doing would be good as well as fun. Hope you enjoy it. Love ya Mom MatkinPosted by Rachel at Thu Nov 13 2003 13:54
Maybe by then you will have a new baby!
Yay for babies.Posted by Alyson at Thu Nov 13 2003 18:01
Thanks for your faith in me, Rachel, but I think I'll keep my sanity and let someone else have a turn : )

I'll likely be in your shoes with my sweater, Mom, but surely I'll get to a point in my knitting where I can turn out a scarf or something less complicated. Of course, I'm still working on Dave's hat, too . . .

I knitted a sweater for Dad once. The first Christmas, I packaged up all the yarn and instructions and a nice note. I worked on it all year and by the next Christmas I had the sleeves made. I wrapped it again, and Dad said, "Do I have to finish it myself?" I worked and worked, and when I finished the back it was twice as big as it should have been, so I ripped it out and started over. I think I never did finish it. The only sweater I ever finished was a fisherman one for Leonardw, and it was full of mistakes in the pattern.

I'll bet Leonard treasures that sweater, though. I've ripped out that hat I mentioned at least 5 times, and I finally bought a really beautiful one for Dave at a Farmer's Market in British Colombia. It only cost me $20. Imagine that!
I have a treasure trove of unfinished projects. And I am guilty of a similar act of putting one under the tree for my dear sister-in-law Amy. A quiet book. Haven't finished that one either.Posted by Kristen at Fri Nov 14 2003 17:37
Hum, maybe I will need the sweater in the near future! hehehe

I learned how to crochet this year and have been whipping out scarves. Straight lines only. I can only sew in straight lines too.
