(4) Sun Mar 07 2004 12:31: Terry Pratchett has a new book out. It's about a girl who runs away from home to become a soldier. I thought about getting it but Rachel checked and said it's only in hardback $25.00. If I were a writer like Terry Pratchett I would publish directly into paperback.

I thought that publisher's have it to where they only make hardbacks available until the book is out for like 6 months?

depends on the book. nora roberts, par example, usually publishes directly into paperback. (and its v annoying when she doesn't.) the fans aren't so die hard they can't wait 6 mos for paperback (a la Harry Potter), and they have so many books out people are probably more likely to buy the new ones right away if it 7, not 25.

I see...well I was going to check Harry Potter OP out at the library but they had 50 books and I was 81 on the list and I put my name on the list in April. So I couldn't wait and I splurged and bought it for $15.50.
