(6) Tue Jan 06 2004 14:42 It's not fair:
I never knew that when you are pregnant you have to eat this much. A cruel irony is that when you are pregnant the thought of food makes you nauseous, but you are supposed to eat all the time to keep from getting sick. Great. Just when I can eat whatever and whenever I want without feeling guilty, nothing sounds good!

Hopefully, you'll get past this stage, and then you'll just be ravenous. Be sure not to eat anything you really can't live without, because if you throw it up now you will never want to eat it again. It's been 25 years since I had spaghetti squash. Also, it helps to not dwell on it. Your mom used to say, "I might throw up.... I think I'm going to throw up. What if I throw up.... aaaaaargh, I'm throwing up!" She'd work herself into that state IMHO. Don't think about it and eat crackers and it won't be as bad.

I wish I were close. I would make you the potato and leek soup that you love.
Remember how Dave used to joke that the sick pregnant mum that can't put into words what she needs to be comfortable and happy is preparation for the father who will soon have a baby with the same lack of words, and the same occasional miseries.Hang in there!

I do need to not think about it so much. Work helps. When I look back on the Christmas break in Mesa I think- man I was not feeling well- but it was the times when I was watching Aaron play XBOX waiting for everyone to want to do something so all I thought about was how miserable I was feeling. No wonder! I still feel sick, but not all day long like it was on vacation. See idleness is bad.

A girl I work with says she only got sick when she got home from work and sat down to relax. As long as she was busy, she was fine.

I agree with the idleness thing. It's amazing what you can do if you have to, and the sick feelings tentitavely subside until the work is done.

That's probably why I've been so sick this whole vacation.
