(7) Wed Jun 22 2005 10:47 We need another dish-washa:
This morning I was unloading the dishwasher and I found a pair of tweezers in the silverware basket. Sometimes I think my husband is strange.

That's funny to me, because he probably thinks it's strange you don't put tweezers in the dishwasher.Merging two cultures really does happen in marriage.

I think that's a brilliant new way to get your tweezers clean (not that I have ever washed my tweezers). Of course, I also wash my flipflops in the dishwasher.

I clean tweezers by rubbing/soaking in rubbing alcohol or hydrogen peroxide. Embarrassingly enough, I have also used vodka. There's at least one med-trained person reading this - Joe, what's proper procedure?I read a Reader's Digest story once about a doctor on an airplane who had to perform emergency surgery with a Swiss Army Knife or something. He used some of those minibottles of booze to disinfect his instruments (he ended up making an emergency valve out of a straw to help air escape from a punctured heart) and after the emergency was over, he drank the rest of the minibottle's worth of booze.Flipflops in the dishwasher is BRILLIANT. Also silicon-ey (nonporous) potholders.Roommates have the craziest ideas about cleaning. They probably think the same of me, to parallel John's comment. Living with someone who grew up in a different family makes me realize how limited my life experience is - some people only brush their teeth in the morning! Some only in the evening! Some twice! Some after every meal! Some clean the bathroom twice a week! Some leave all the lights on all the time! Some people reuse towels a few times before washing and some need to use a fresh towel after every shower. Some people think it's okay to blow their noses in towels they'll reuse as long as they remember to not dry themselves with that corner later. Some people can't stand crumbs and some don't even seem to see them. It's like a little foreign exchange right in my kitchen.Sometimes I think no man is an island and sometimes I think http://www.bookofratings.com/finalfantasy.html"Who are all of us really? Can you ever know your own soul?"only I mean "can anyone ever know another's soul". Or your own either.

Yeah, Aaron will wash his hat in the dishwasher too so it doesn't lose it's shape.

I have heard about that! Does he air dry or heat-dry?

Umm, usually both b/c the heat dry doesn't get it dry so then he let's it air dry.

Rachel gave me a pair of pink sparkly flipflops that have pourous soles. They had black feet marks on them from all the dirt, but now whenever the dirt is starting to show, I wash them and they get completely clean! It doesn't work so well with the rubber/Old Navy kind, as far as clean-looking goes.
