[Comments] (11) What if's: Sometimes I wonder what would my life have been like if my grandparents on my mom's side didn't die when I was a baby. I mean my mom said that they were planning on moving to the bay area in CA where they're from until they both died. If they had stayed alive, I would have known them, and I would have been a Californian, not a Texan. Instead, they moved to where my dad's parents lived in Texas.

I doubt I would have met Aaron, or would I have at BYU? Who knows, but I do wish that I could have had other middle school/high school experiences. California wouldn't have been so bad. It is the second best state in the Union.

Uhhhhhh.... second best????

What's the first? Surely you don't mean the Alamo state. Or are you referring to the Beehive State?

And you would have been from NoCal; not the same.

Yup...that's right! Nor Cal isn't the same...it's better!!! Funny how one simple decision by a family member can affect generations to come!

NoCal isn't the same as California? ;) Texas of course! I would rather live in a state where I am not a slave to the taxes and the housing. California is too 'spensive.

It's all about tradeoffs. We don't live in Texas because we don't want to be slaves to the weather. We can go on walks any time of the day we please!!

FYI--Texas isn't the only affordable state in the Union. But I'm glad you like where you live nonetheless.

I would definitely live in CA, weather wise and natural beauty, but since it has all the lovely things, everyone wants to live there. So it is crowded and expensive, but gorgeous. You're right about trade-offs.

That was very rude of them to die, wasn't it? What COULD they have been thinking?

Posted by Susie at Fri Aug 19 2005 22:26

Well, your mom was probably thinking, "get that noisy granddaughter out of here." *pout* Kristen doesn't even have another grandma now.

I can't wait to meet them...All I gotta say is Mom, you better not die on me when I have three kids, or anytime soon for that matter.

I have thought of that many times as well. I think that life would have been much more different.

Here in MO, I see that things aren't quite like Cali or Texas, but the good thing is that I will be able to travel as a doctor to let my children experience all sides of this American Life. That way, my kids won't be spoiled CA brats or ignorant MO kids. Also they will see that Texas is a great place, but there are other states in the Union. Although,

I guess, however, the way my kids end up all depends on how I am as a parent. Darned responsibility.
