[Comments] (15) Cerebral: Well, I've finished Angels and Demons. Good book, not as good as Da Vinci Code and due to Dan Brown's writing style was a little predictable. I can't give anything away for those who wish to read it in the future, (just like we gave away to Joe and Louise a year after HP:OOTP came out, assuming they had read it, that Sirius dies) but I didn't like the ending that much. I would tell you why but then I would give clues away.

I am halfway through the disturbing but very well written Oryx and Crake. I just got chills up my spine from writing that name. Yes, it is that disturbing. It is an "end of the world" theme, but I am still making my way through it to really pinpoint what it is about. I would love to discuss it with you Aly, after I am done, and Sumana- have you read it too?

Inspired by my trip to Utah and hanging with my sister-in-law, Aaron and I have rented the first 2 DVD's of Arrested Development. Very hilarious, and highly recommended. I love the main guy's acting, he slays me. I also think Gob and "Mom" are hilarious, but I have to say Buster does the funniest things. My favorite character is Michael though. Who's your favorite character?

Anyone who hasn't seen AR, rent season one!

I personally think that George Michael is the most entertaining character. He's just a good kid thrown into one hilarious predicament after another. I liked Angels and Demons, and would recommend it to anyone interested in a quick, entertaining read. If you really like Oryx and Crake I may have to read it.

Kristen, my soul sister! I also read Oryx and Crake and adore Arrested Development. My favorite character to identify with is George Michael but my favorite characters to watch being hilarious are Tobias and GOB. (GOB stands for George Oscar Bluth.)

The best Arrested Development fan site is The Balboa Observer-Picayune:

I bet Brendan already has interesting things to say about Oryx and Crake. It was really creepy for me too.

I'd love to talk about Oryx and Crake. I just finished a marathon reading of Jane Eyre. I couldn't put it down. Now I'm thinking about reading The Handmaid's Tale. That is another Margaret Atwood novel. When you're done reading (or are you listening?) Oryx and Crake, I have a very interesting interview Atwood gave following the book's publication that you should check out. I love good books, but I get so engrossed I ignore the boys and the house falls to pieces. Oh well. Small pleasures.

Aaron, I don't think you'd like Oryx and Crake, but see if Kristen agrees.

John has finished Deception Point in record time, so now it's my turn.

Oh, man, you ruined HP:OOTP for me, too...

My favorite is G.O.B. I like how his name is an acronym, and how he always says, "I think I've made a huge mistake..."

Ben just got done reading Angels and Demons. P.S. I don't like how you have been slacking on writing in you blog!! Oh and I got Summers e-mail if you would like to write her. :)

This is why it is sometimes best to read books that have high profiles right after they came out. I don't know anyone who wasn't spoiled reading HBP, including myself (if only a little bit), unless they finished it the next day.

Oryx and Crake is on my bookshelf waiting to be read. I read the Hadmaid's Tale is a college English class and really loved it. And yah, I have mixed feelings about Dan Brown. I think his books are exciting and I love all the art history clues and whatnot, but I don't think he's that great of a writer, narrative-wise, it bothered me how similiar The Da Vinici Code and Angels and Demons were, and it REALLY bothered me that the two different females in the book were the exact same character.

Second season of Arrested Development comes out on DVD soon! I am excited to see it. I feel like I am missing a lot this season bc i haven't seen any of the last.

I agree Rachel. They are similar books and the female characters are one in the same.
I am listening to Oryx and Crake. I love mulit-tasking and I love that I can get stuff done with being entertained. It's like I am not working at all. Like yesterday I cleaned the office/guest room and listened to my book. I feel like I am cheating.

Hi Ben! Nice to see you around here.

I am entertained by Brown--would love to read Deception Point if it comes my way--but I really think he needs to enroll in a writing class at the local community college. Back in the day, I would have been extremely irritated by his lack of skill masked by cleverness, but now I have to read writing that is so much worse every day that I cut Brown some slack.

Ben/Chuck and Ben Smith...now I am confused?!

Hooray for Arrested Development! I think I loved George Michael the most during Season One, but he's kind of taken a back seat so far in Season 3 and now it's all about GOB for me (and Buster slays me as well.)

AS for Dan Brown, I liked Angels and Demons better (can't really say why) and I recently finished Digital Fortress--interesting but too much swearing for me. I have Deception Point but haven't gotten into i

I know I've read Margaret Atwood before--wait a minute--didn't she write Alias Grace? I looooove that book.

Sorry about the double comment--Ethan came and pushed a button before I was done!

I haven't read Alias Grace yet, but I checked that out too at the library.
