Inscription:
Leonard, Frances and I saw the Star-Spangled Banner today during our visit to the American History Museum.
Postcard back:
The Star Spangled Banner is the flag that flew over Fort McHenry, in Baltimore, Md., during the attack of the British Fleet in the War of 1812. On September 14, 1814 after a night bombardment, Francis Scott Key saw its 15 stars and 15 stripes still waving "by the dawn's early light" and penned his poem.
