(LEONARD) Susanna, Rachel and Daddy went with me to the Natural History Museum in L.A. and we saw the gems. They were very interesting.
DETAIL FROM THE AGE OF REPTILES MURAL
Peabody Museum, Yale University
New Haven, Connecticut, U.S.A.
Cretaceous Period - 136 to 65 million years ago
This period brought the end of the dinosaurs and the Age of Reptiles. It was a time when many modern trees such as willow, ginkgo, sassafras, and oak became common. The last of the great dinosaurs roamed the earth. These included such forms as the Triceratops (on the left), the giant meat-eater Tyrannosaurus (Center), as well as the armored Ankylosaurus and duck-billed Anatosaurus (on the right). The huge winged reptile Pteronadon sails overhead; some had wingspreads of over 20 feet (9 meters).

Rudolph F. Zallinger, I salute you. Dinosaurs recreating the Abbey Road album cover. Awesome.
This is not even the only dinosaur mural postcard in this collection in which multiple volcanoes are erupting simultaneously.
Is it too much to hope for an interesting story behind how the sentence It was a time when many modern trees such as willow, ginkgo, sassafras, and oak became common. came to be inserted between two sentences about dinosaurs?
