Roy's Postcards: 1991/06/19
We went to Natural Bridges. We were pretty tired and did not hike down to any of the bridges. We then drove on to the Nelsons in Glendale, Utah.
NATURAL BRIDGES NATIONAL MONUMENT
Proclaimed a national monument in 1908, Natural Bridges was the first national monument in the state of Utah.
Top Right: Kachina - "masked dancer", the youngest bridge, got its name from prehistoric pictographs found near it.
Bottom: Owachomo - "rock mounts", is the oldest bridge, about 10 million years old.
Top Left: Sipapu - "the place of emergence," is larger than the other bridges in the monument.
