The kids and I picked out a Father's Day present for John today. I coached Maggie on not telling him what it was. Later, we practiced.
Me: Maggie, it's me, Daddy! Did you buy me any presents while I was gone?
Maggie: Yes!
Me: What was it?
Maggie: I'm not going to tell you!
Me: What if I tickle you? *tickle* I'm going to tickle you until you tell me!
Maggie: It was a ______!
Me: You're not supposed to tell him! Let's try again.
Me: Maggie, it's me, Daddy! Did you buy me any presents while I was gone?
Maggie: Yes!
Me: What was it?
Maggie: I'm not going to tell you!
Me: What if I tickle you? *tickle* I'm going to tickle you until you tell me! What was it?
Maggie: I dunno!
Me: What was it? *tickle*
Maggie: I dunno! It was a ______!
Me: *sigh*
Maggie: A ____________!!!
We'll see how this goes.
Maggie: I'm not gonna tell you! *grabs a book off the bed* It was a book!

Me: Oh dear.
Maggie: A ______!!!!!

Oh, and when she talked to Daddy on the phone, the first thing she said was, "Daddy, guess what? We bought you a present!" And I really didn't expect her to say present.
