What I cannot handle is what a liberal reader from Fairway, KS has to say about this trajedy: "The problem with New Orleans is that it "looks French." Since the president and his Republican administration regect anything that's French, the French Quarter should have changed its name to the Freedom Quarter. Maybe federal help would have arrived faster."
Where does one even begin? I guess by giving, and not by blaming.

Saying stupid things. I've had it up to my knee caps with people blaming the President for not stopping an act of God from attacking our country. Republican or Democrat, no man can sway an act of God. The questions that beg answering include: What about the ignored warnings? The local leader's responsibilities? The taxpayer's refusing hikes to fix an aging levee? All this I can handle.

If there are people out there actually arguing that individual humans - whatever party - are actually responsible for the hurricane existing in the first place, please allow me to join you in scorning them. (Disclaimer: I am willing to listen to the global warming causation argument.)

In our family, it is well known that everything is the fault of Mrs. Cribbs.

Who's Mrs. Cribbs? In our family, everything gets blamed on George.

Mrs. Cribbs is a very evil English teacher at BHS. (Susie might have liked her though.) I have no professional respect for the woman, and Rachel hated her class.

It is just the same old story. Franklin Roosevelt was blamed for Pearl Harbor, George Washington for slavery, etc. I am just surprised that Mary Landreau blamed the President for the failed infrastructure when she and her daddy had more money sent to them than any other state in the Union to prevent the flooding that occurred in New Orleans. I am sure the Federal government could have done a better job, but how about the overwhelmingly democratic government of New Orleans and Louisiana. There will always be people in the sewers trying to pry the gold out of dead peoples teeth for power. As Dostoevsky said--getting power is as easy as stooping down to pick it up. That is what I think whenever I see an attack like that for purely political reasons. Although, FEMA clearly should have acted in a timelier manner, as should have the CIA and FBI before 9/11.
