(LEONARD) We went to Ubehebe Crater and then to Scotty's Castle. The clock rang bells and the ranger rang a bell when we started the tour.
DEATH VALLEY NATIONAL MONUMENT
The legends of Death Valley Scotty have flourished with the renown of this spectacular building in the northeast corner of Death Valley. Scotty's Castle was built by Albert Johnson who was charmed with Scotty's imagination and love of the desert. Today the castle is owned by the National Park Service and tours are conducted daily.

Probably not dictated, but clearly focusing on the things I found interesting at the time.
Who the heck was Death Valley Scotty, if he didn't even build Scotty's Castle? He was a con man in the early 20th century. I don't really want to type up a bunch of stuff about him, but he's a fun character; look him up.
