Roy's Postcards: 1983/08/12

Inscription:

Frances and I went to the Hollywood Bowl tonight to see the Tchaikovsky Spectacular. We heard Romeo & Juliet, Piano Concerto No. 1, 1812 Overture and saw a spectacular display of fireworks. We had a very good time. We saw Donald and Nadine Lively.

Postcard back:

SPECTACULAR NIGHT VIEW FROM MULHOLLAND DRIVE OF SCINTILLATING HOLLYWOOD, CALIFORNIA
The "Glamour City" of all the world in all its neon and incandescent splendor is one of the world's most exciting sights. The Hollywood Bowl in foreground, The Hollywood Freeway at left, and "Hollywood and Vine" near Capitol Record Building at center can be plainly seen in this spectacular view.
Union Pacific Railroad Colorphoto P63890.

Leonard's comments:

It's really not as great as this postcard makes it sound. I mean, they're citing a freeway as an example of glamour. And what is the Union Pacific Railroad doing taking pictures like this, anyway?
