Roy's Postcards: 1984/11/01

Inscription:

Leonard -
I have not seen any whales yet, but, I am keeping my eyeballs peeled.
Daddy

Postcard front:

"THARE SHE BLOWS!" off MAUI

Postcard back:

The humbpack whale (Megaptera novaeangliae) comes to Hawaii every winter from the cold waters off Alaska. They mate one year and give birth the next, most frequently near West Maui. They grow to 45 feet and 40 tons. The humpback was adopted by the 1976 Hawaii State legislature as Hawaii's official marine mammal.

Leonard's comments:

Probably not many whales at MAP's Honolulu office, but thanks for keeping hope alive, dad.
