OPEN PIT COPPER MINE
SANTA RITA, NEW MEXICO
Mining operations such as this must be carried out on a large scale if it is succeed. The power shovels, which look like toys from the observation point, actually can pick up between 10 and 12 tons of material at a scoop. The trucks working in the pit have a capacity to 85 tons each or the equivalent of 170 normal pickup truck lods of material
