We drove up through much of the motherlode today from Columbia to US50 then headed over through Sacramento to the Redwood Country.

SCENIC HWY 49 THRU JACKSON
MOTHER LODE COUNTRY, CALIFORNIA
Winding through the foothills of California's Mother Lode Country, Hwy 39 passes through the historic town of Jackson, County Seat of Amador County. Rich quartz deposits were discovered in the 1850's and the famous Kennedy and Argonaut gold mines are located here. Today's economy is based on Lumber, agriculture, cattle and tourism.
