The same thing happens in Mexico. There have been lots of interesting things that we have sent to relatives in Mexico or we have been put in charge of for transport to Mexico. Including letters--no money included, just letters! I too don't understand why stuff just can't get mailed. I guess mail isn't as reliable in some countries.
