There's nothing like the empirical method. I don't know what else to say. When I want to find something out, I write a simulation for it. If it's of general interest, I make it a web-based simulation so that I can put it up here and make it into Someone's Hall of Something. If you've got something you'd like to see simulated, let me know and I'll see what I can do.
