Roy's Postcards: 1983/01/06

We drove from L.A. today coming in to Death Valley on the dirt road out of Baker. We visited Badwater and then took the trip through Artists Drive. The colors were phenomenal. Red, brown, green, purple, yellow much more so tha[n] this postcard indicates.

Postcard back:

DEATH VALLEY NATIONAL MONUMENT, CALIF. Artists Drive is a circle through a region remarkable for its coloring and its appeal to artists.

Leonard's comments:

Not many people live in Badwater, Death Valley, as you might imagine. But it is the lowest point in the United States: 282 feet below sea level, according to Wikipedia.
