Roy's Postcards: 1983/06/28
We arrived in Rico, Colorado today and went driving around the mountains. Up by the old Rico-Argentine mine where Grandpa Whitney used to work, we found one of the furry creatures. He just stood by the side of the road looking at us so we sat looking back.
This sout bodied, short-legged burrowing little rodent has a bushy tail & very small ears. Frequently seen in the mountains of Colorado.

I always thought marmots looked more like ferrets. I guess you learn something new every day from old postcards.
