Roy's Postcards: 1985/02/21

Inscription:

Frances and I toured the temple grounds today before going to the Polynesian Cultural Center. We were very impressed with the design and stateliness of Harold Burton's work.

Postcard front:

The Hawaii Temple and Laie on Windward Oahu

Postcard back:

The beautiful Hawaii Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is at Laie on the windward side of the island of Oahu near the Polynesian Cultural Center and the Hawaii campus of Brigham Young University. Construction of the temple was undertaken in 1916 and completed three years later. The temple is one of the earliest examples of architectural concrete in America.
