STS-1 Landing - The Space Shuttle Orbiter Columbia is within feet of touchdown to complete the first Space Shuttle flight on a runway on the dry lakebeds of the Majave Desert area at NASA's Dryden Flight Research Center in Souther California. Astronaut John W. Young Commander, and Robert L. Crippe, Pilot were aboard the spacecraft for the duration of the flight.
