I just found Grandma Jessie's dad married to his brother-in-law. The good news is that I found his brother-in-law. But not his mother-in-law. And not the Illinois census.
It seems to me Grandma Jessie's dad had a couple of wives (sequentially not plurally), but I never heard her mention an alternative lifestyle. She had "my mother" whom I think she never knew, and she had "Momma" (To whom the blue hand painted bowl in our dining room belonged.)
Perhaps if she'd known her mother she would have known her grandmother's name. Sheesh. Women are SO hard to find because you can't search by their last name.
