Roy's Postcards: 1983/07/12

Inscription:

Frances, Leonard, Susanna, Rachel and I went with Barbara Hall and her children to Dinosaur Natl. Mon. today and saw this quarry. It was very intriguing to see all the mixture of dinosaur bones and how they can identify them all.

Postcard back:

DINOSAUR NATIONAL MONUMENT
Utah - Colorado
An ancient river sandbar where dinosaur bones were scattered and buried now forms the wall of the Quarry Visitor Center. As visitors watch, the museum technicians carefully chip away the rock to reveal bones of Apatosaurus, Stegosaurus, Allosaurus and other Jurassic dinosaurs. The bones are left in place in the tilted sandstone layer to form a unique exhibit and to provide a rare glimpse into the past.
