Roy's Postcards: 1984/10/28

I saw this beautiful locomotive in the National Museum of American History. This was a part of several railroad artifacts in a very interesting exhibit.

Postcard back:

Pacific-type passenger locomotive No. 1401. This steam engine was built for The Southern Railway in 1926. Its wheel pattern is 4-6-2, its length is 92 feet and its weight is 280 tons. The locomotive was retired from service in 1951 and now stands in The Railroad Hall.
