Roy's Postcards: 1988/02/12

Inscription:

Dear Rachel,
I hope you like this little squirrel. I'm sending him to ask if you will be my Valentine.
Love,
Daddy.

Postcard back:

GOLDEN-MANTLED GROUND SQUIRREL
SIERRA NEVADA MOUNTAINS, CALIFORNIA
This little animal is a common sight in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Not to be confused with the chipmunk who is smaller and has stripes continuing across its head.

Leonard's comments:

I feel like it's time for one of my periodic reminders that Valentine's Day was a completely desexualized and unromantic holiday in my family, and in fact throughout my entire life up to high school.
