Roy's Postcards: 1983/11/25

Inscription:

I went to the Tar Pits with Daddy, Leonard and Uncle Jon. I had a good time looking at the bones of the camel, mastodon, sloth, saber-tooth, bison, lion. I saw a movie that had dinosaurs in it and I saw the mastodon stuck in the tar. Daddy bought me an ankylosaurus.

Postcard back:

EXTINCT ANIMALS IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA
This striking mural, painted by Jerome and Elma Connolly, depicts a general view of what Southern California might have looked like 400,000 years ago. All the mammals and the birds in the mural are now extinct.

Leonard's comments:

Ankylosaurs make a great gift.
