Roy's Postcards: 1984/02/10

Inscription:

On our way to Phoenix we had to stop at the Dinosaur Gardens. We saw the Tyrannosaurus Rex with his cement coating all on. He is not open yet - apparently not finished. But Leonard & Susanna quite enjoyed it.

Postcard back:

"Tyrannosaurus Rex" before its cement coating is applied. This dinosaur is 50 ft. high, all welded steel and wire sculptured. It will house a date shop and has a stairway leading into the Giant Jaws. What a great ovservation tower. Designer, and sculptor Claude K. Bell.

Leonard's comments:

Hard to believe that in my lifetime--in Susanna's lifetime--that tyrannosaurus was not functional.
